What file types are required for printing? - Additive Manufacturing Solutions

3D printing typically uses STL or STEP/STP file formats. STL and STEP/STP file formats contain information about an object’s geometry, such as shape and dimensions. These files can be generated by various 3D modelling software such as Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Catia or Siemens NX.

Regardless of the format, it is important that the file contains a solid model that is free of holes or other errors that may affect print quality. During the preparation of the quote, we analyse the submitted 3D model for its correctness and printability.
